How influential is this?
We generally boast that On Line Opinion has 70,000 individual readers each month who visit a total of 230,000 times, but sometimes you can be staggered by where these readers come from.
While the majority is from Australia, a substantial minority comes from Asia. Recently we received a request from a Jamaican journalist wanting to contact Verghese Mathews, who writes on South-East Asian matters. We frequently receive this type of request, although never before from Jamaica, and we know they are much smaller in number than what goes direct to authors.
I suggested that Mathews had a burgeoning international reputation, assuming that they had done a google search and found his author page on our site. Mathews modestly sent me the following reply (couldn't get the formatting to appear, so you will have to make do with plain text). If you want to get the word around in South-East Asia, On Line Opinion would appear to be a very good way of doing it.
